Blushing Lippies

Because I have too many lipsticks, a large number of them sit in my drawer untouched for months! So one day as I was going through my lipstick collection, I found some amazing shades.. For my cheeks..

I've been really enjoying wearing lipstick as a blush..

And here's why:

- It's Long-wearing
- Pigment is amazing
- Multi-purpose

Application:

I like using my MAC 188 Duo-Fibre Brush to apply them.. I just brush it on the lipstick a few time to pick up the colour then blend it on my cheeks.. I found that using my fingers makes it a little blotchy and not blended as well..

Here are swatches of some of the lipsticks I've been using as blush and how they look when blended out.. Oh I do prefer working with matte lipsticks for my cheeks:

MAC Candy Yum Yum (Limited Edition)

Now this is a scary colour that I'm not brave enough to wear often.. I'd wear this to pool parties and that's about it.. But this shade makes an amazing blush because of its cool tones.. Gives a beautiful girly glow!

Estee Lauder Double Wear Lipstick - 01 Stay Rose

I like to dab this colour on my lips for that rosy/berry stain.. And that kinda shade is amazing for blush!

Inglot Lipstick in 231

I really like this coral shade.. Looks especially amazing on my lips when I'm tanned.. But for my cheeks, I can wear it whenever! It's not completely matte like the others, but it has a beautiful luminous finish..

Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Intense - Mat 4

This is completely matte! I love the shade.. Very natural.. It's a dusty rose.. Very waterproof too!

Illamasqua Welt

A beautiful pinkie magenta that gives the nicest "I've-been-out-in-the-cold" cheeks

I won't go through my whole lipstick collection, but you get the idea.. I've been really enjoying this technique.. Especially now in the summer.. And for those who want to use up their rarely touched lipsticks, this is the way to go ;)

Have you tried wearing your lipstick as a blush?

Such a great idea hun, some of them look fantastic buffed out especially the Illmasqua Welt. I've never tried lippies as cheek products mainly because I'm not a huge fan of cream cheek products. But you always inspire me to try new things so I might have to dig some long unloved lipstick out of hibernation and try them on my cheeks.

Great tip - I used to do this all the time in my makeup artist days. Great way to make room in your kit.

Love this post, and the lippies shown are gorgeous! I have tried using lipstick as a blush in the past, and came away with a break out on my cheeks :( I do however use cream blush as a lipstick quite often :) I am sure it was just the formula of the one I used (it was MAC) and I should try a different brand or shade. Lovely swatches too!

I'll use lippie as blush in a pinch, but lipsticks contain waxes that can cause you to break out!

I'm gonna try this when I get home. I'm sure this will help a lot when it comes to the 'what blush should I wear with this lipstick' dilema!

@Makeup and Macaroons - Try it out and lemme know how you like it yah? ;)

@The Peach - Thanks hun =)

@Amanne - Yah very convenient for sure =)

@Danielle - Ouch! Thankfully I haven't broken out yet :s But yah maybe it's the MAC one..

@Kellyyes - Thanks sweets! Glad you like =)

@Jamilla Camel - Hopefully it doesn't break me out :s

Delyteful, you are a genius! I've tried this once, a long time ago, but sort of forgotten about it. Definitely trying this out again soon! I have one purple lipstick in particular that will make a great blusher.

This is such a great idea if you have lipsticks you never wear. I actually did this once when I was out because I forgot to apply blush that morning. I just dabbed a bit of lipstick on my cheeks and I was good to go. This would be great for on-the-go too :)

These are such beautiful colors. I don't own a lot of cream blushes because I use some of my lipsticks as cream blushes.

@Priyanka - You'd love it! It gives such a beautiful glow!

@Rinny - hehe yah you're right! And for those who are scared of cream blushes, this is the way to go ;)
