Review: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation

I have tried a few Chanel foundations.. The Mat Lumiere I have and I got samples of the Pro Lumiere and Teint Innocence.. None of these were truly special for me.. I enjoyed the Mat Lumiere but it just wasn't.. The Pro Lumiere and the Teint Innocence disappeared too soon from my face and that's a big no no for me especially because I'm living in a humid hot weather..

When Chanel released the Vitalumiere Aqua foundation, I hesitated a lot before even thinking of purchasing it as my skin NEEDS medium to full coverage and from the reviews I've been watching and reading, people claimed that this is a sheer to light coverage foundation.. And I can tell you right no.. It isn't..

Product

- Light-weight
- Light to Medium coverage.. Covers my scars & redness pretty well but I still need concealer
- You need to shake the hell out of this foundation before you use it as it is water-based
- Very long lasting
- Satin finish.. Matte with a glow/sheen
- I find that it is best applied with fingers
- Blends effortlessly
- Does not cling on dryness or sink into pores
- Does not make me oily and has not broken me out

My Final Thoughts: What I love most about this foundation is that is it a light-weight foundation yet provides pretty good coverage.. Also, the fact that it stays put all day has won me over.. Only thing that kinda bugs me about it is the fact that you REALLY have to shake it before you use it otherwise, there'll be more water than the actual product coming out.. However, it is an amazing foundation for the summer.. Hands down the best Chanel foundation out of the ones I've tried..

Would I Re-Purchase: Yes

Have you tried the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua?

I loved the coverage and texture of this foundation. Loved it until it broke me out severely. Why Chanel added alcohol to this foundation is beyond me. I really wish it worked.

I am so tempted to try this, some of my foundations are clinging to my dry patches and driving me mad!

Does using foundation/concealar make your face break out?

Wish I love this but it made me break out.

Adrienne - I steer awaaaaay from MAC foundations.. I'd rather wear nothing than wear a MAC foundation.. U gotta try this and lemme know how u like it ;)

Kristie - ohh that's such a shame.. Sorry to hear that hun

emmabovary - Get a sample and try it out.. You'd like it.. Make sure u wear a really great moisturizer underneath and get some kind of hydrating mask to help soothe and get rid of the dryness

r.alsharif - Yes they can depending on your skin... Some people have more sensitive skin than others which reacts to certain ingredients in the product..

Ansa - ouch sorry to hear that hun

Vida - get it get it get it =P

Malika - awww thank you soo much sweetie..

aringkingking - I have combination skin so I do get an oily t-zone but this does a pretty good job for me in keeping my oils at bay.. But get a sample and try it out first.. See how it works for you

Amy - Yay! *high five*

Kajal Couture - Yah do try it out and let us know how it works for you ;)

It looks lovely from what I have seen, thanks for putting your perspective on it. I already have enough foundation for the moment, but when I am out (in 2016) lol. I may have to give this one a go! ;)

Really great review! It does look thick from the swatch. I'm looking for a really good cruelty free foundation for the summer. XOOX

Great review, too bad my skin can't stand any type of make-up :(! Lovely blog! Would you like to follow each other? love,m.

Outstanding review as per usual! I would dearly love to try this foundation, but so far every Chanel foundation I've tried has pulled very yellow on my NW10ish skin:( I'm thinking I'm going to try the Armani Silk foundation to console myself from being left out of the Chanel party, lol. Thanks for the review:)

I also really like this foundation. It gives such a smooth surface and the skin looks flawless. I agree with you that it isn't a sheer coverage. I don't know why people keep saying that. It's more coverage that the regular Vitalumiere. The only thing I don't like about this foundation is that it dries into my fine lines under the eyes so I have to be very careful with it.

Love the makeover on you blog btw!!

Venus In Virgo - Well Chanel Aqua IS cruelty free ;)

Marielleheart - I'd love it if I didn't HAVE to wear makeup =P

Clare - Oh really? You gotta try the Aqua line coz chanel's shades differ from one type of foundation to another.. Also, if you're more on the pinky side, Guerlain or YSL will probably have something for you..

Makeup Look/Catharina - Oh that doesn't happen to me.. But then again, I try not to put my foundation on my eye area..

Sherry - Thanks hun.. What are u lookin for in a foundation??

Ahhh you have no idea how much I needed to hear this review at this time! I've been hmming over this foundation for quite some time now... I think I just need to bite the bullet and get it! Great review! xo

Danielle said...

Aww, thanks dear! ;) I don't know about that, I tend to like my skin better with foundation on for sure!

Mai said...

Laura - Thanks hun! Make sure you get a sample before you "bite the bullet" ;)

Danielle - Haha yah I know what u mean =P We've become so used to wearing makeup that when we don't we feel that we just don't look "right"

Sherry - Oh there's a lot I could reccomend for you.. But what's ur budget?

Stefy said...

Thanks for the helpful review!
Ive been debating weather or not to get my hands on this foundation being that i have combination skin im worried about my t-zone area! but from what i see it looks like the best summer lightweight foundation for the hot weather!

Lovely blog :)

Stefy - It won't control your oils tremendously but it won't make you increase your oils.. Ask for a sample and test it out for a few days.. Thanks for passing by hun =)

Great review! I love this foundation too- i have many acne scars but it still covers them very well. It also has not broken out my acne-prone skin which is great! LOVE this product!
